Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
Skills and Qualifications
BS or MS in Computer Science, or similar degree
Excellent debugging and problem solving skills
Expert level understanding of relational databases and their impact on application performance
Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, and other resource contentions
Experience on very high volume of transactions and VLDB (required)
Strong troubleshooting skills (required)
Strong performance tuning skills (required)
Expertise with SQL and a passion for optimizing schemas and queries for optimal performance
Experience deploying and monitoring SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2017 (high desired)
Experience using tools like SQL Server Management Studio and RedGate to manage database infrastructure and deployments
Experience on DMV and DMF (required)
Expertise on execution plan (required)
Expert level on logical and physical design, partition, partition switch, merge, archive.
Experience on configuring and troubleshooting HA (like mirroring, AlwaysOn), database replications, log shipping
Experience on xEvents and profiler
Experience on backups, restores, recovery modes
OnCall rotate to respond to production service outages on a 24x7 basis
Experience building and testing a disaster recovery environment
Understanding of microservice architectures and common networking concepts
Familiarity with application development using technologies like C#, XML, JSON
Desire to learn more about Amazon Web Services and how to optimize service and database performance in the cloud
